Out the Shade, into the Sun.

The other night I was on the phone with my dear friend Valerie. We met in Vegas years ago and became great friends ever since. My closest friends are some of the most inspiring people I know, they have positively influenced me, as I believe I had influenced them. This is the best kind of friendship.

As we were catching up, I realized how relaxed I always am when talking about what I’m sure of, what I believe as true to me. This is usually about the realm of the body – even when times have challenged me, pushing me to change my training approach and goals, I can feel in my being, in my words, in my thoughts and emotions, this calm conviction that it all always works out for me. I never entertain an opposing thought long enough in my consciousness, it’s too important to me not to spoil my default, trusting state. When I think about this condition, I wonder why in some aspects of life it comes easy to me to think like that and other times it doesn’t. I believe strongly in my connection to my body, its capabilities to adapt, regenerate, heal, improve and learn. I don’t question it!

I have the same belief about money, believe it or not. I don’t buy that we need to slave away with work to live, unless you enjoy working a lot and being burned out. For some people that approach is “easier”, because that’s what’s most celebrated or thought as the way to success. But I think money comes when you work aligned to your passion, when you’re dedicated, when it’s hard but it still brings you joy and to some degree, even fun. When I act from this place, calm, focused, full on trust, not worrying about when or exactly how I’ll get to my goal, just cultivating that sense of “inner knowing”, taking a step after the other, throwing away each attempt of the mind to rain on my parade… then all just work out. We just learned it all backwards and still push to get it done the hardest way.

I started to expand this practice to other aspects of life in which I had little confidence in, and I already feel and notice a change!

So if I had to give some practical advice on how to build and maintain this state of “effortless creation”, it would be this:

Reconnect to your spirituality. It could be religion, a spiritual teacher, a certain book, a mantra, sometimes even training, whatever can return you to a state of awareness, presence and inner stillness. A chaotic mind is like a shield, nothing can pass through it, just more chaos and distractions. To me that’s the first step.

Clarify your priorities and path of action. After finding that solid place within you, it’s time to act. I always say that I don’t act or make decisions unless I recenter first. It can take take time, I don’t rush it. I know my best action is never reactive, but informed and intuitive. I feel deep down we always know what we need to do, but we lost the habit to trust it ( thanks, Chat GPT).

After stillness, knowledge and action, you’re left with the hardest part. Practice and believe what you want is possible. Not on your best, most focused, intentional day. But every day. Watch yourself how you talk and behave, are your words and actions aligned with what you want to believe to be true for yourself? You don’t have to be a lunatic, lie or be inauthentic. If you aren’t healthy, you’ll feel like a fraud to shout “I’m healthy!” to the world and you’ll hardly believe it. What’s truer? Saying, “I’m on my way to be the healthiest I ever been”, “Every day, in every way, I’m getting better and better” ( a quote I love, found in “Iron Ambition”). If you knew for certain what you want would come to you, wouldn’t you relax and stop obsessing over it? You would. So practice that.

There will be days that you revert to the old doubts, frustration, confusion – we all do. But it’s how quickly you get back on track that matters. Consider nothing but what you desire. Don’t kill your desire because “If I don’t want it, it will be easier”. You can desire wealth, love, health. You are worthy of it, like we all are. These are like the sun: there is enough for everyone, nobody ever fight over sun rays, we all get them… thing is, you gotta get out of your own shade.
