The discovery of what already was.

Since I got back from my trip I’ve been sensing a strong desire to turn inward and regain perspective on some aspects of my life. Last year has been all about expansion and discovery, while this time around I feel the need to rediscover what I already have, hence the title.

What is that mean? Mostly, a switch in perspective.

Too often I take for granted the freedom I have, while focusing on its price instead (loneliness). Where we focus our attention, our energy flows… and everything grows around it. So mostly what that has meant for me is making the best out of my alone time, which brought me to do solo explorations around Miami. In turns, I discovered unbelievable locations close by, made new unexpected friends and learned one big thing about nature: in its wild state, nature is the purest expression of what meditation is.

If you can notice it, nature does’t think, judge, analyze, force… “it does nothing, yet everything gets done” (one of my favorite passages of the Tao Te Ching). So since you become like the environment you hang around the most… I feel that the more I hang in these places, the more I understand a lot about life’s flow, and our mind is really the “make it or break it” element in living peacefully. Thinking sucks, pretty much. It’s because of thinking that we hurt, judge, assume, dissect information… so suspending thinking, or turning to positive thinking, finding the good in situations as a habit is really the bridge to happiness. You don’t need things, people… but owning your thoughts. WOW! If I could always stay in this place mentally, how easy could life be.

But life is also chaos, traffic, people cutting you off, deadlines, heartache, bills, responsibilities etc, I’m reminded of that on my drive back from my idyllic spots. Yet, contrast is good! We need contrast to see what we want and don’t want. Without contrast (having it all rainbows and flowers) we wouldn’t notice a thing. Contrast, like pain, helps you to redirect yourself toward what you want and need.

This short post is to remind you… it’s all in your head. Which is good, because it shows that you’re powerful, and you can change at any moment.
