Hair wash routine + new products

I know more hair stuff… ahah!

Yesterday I had an amazing day for many reasons! Sometimes all we need is one great day to remind us that everything is always unfolding – in unexpected ways – and wonderful events find their way back to into our life. Trust that to be your truth! It is mine. I strongly believe that nothing is final and we need to embrace the impermanence of life, staying present and grateful when we are gifted with pleasing moments, be it of love, laughter, kindness, beauty, while being patient and having faith during hardship, remembering that “this too shall pass”: things eventually come back to balance and peace again.

So to stay in the “hair realm”, I ended this happy day with getting and installing my shower filter. It was easy! I also got a new shower head because I felt like upgrading the whole thing lol.

I got Aquabliss SF100 shower filter. Looks great too!

I’m going to monitor my hair for the next months and do a post to report to you if the shower filter has been helpful, purifying a bit more the water. I am going to be traveling for the next 3 weeks but I’ll be back using it pretty soon.

So that is the first upgrade that I’m giving my hair. The second one is adding this bond building product below, once a week for the next 6 weeks (then, depending on the results, try another one or keep using this every 3 washes or so). I heard so much about it and apparently it’s better than Olaplex 3 at rebuilding the hair structure from heat and bleach damage.

The instructions say to not condition the hair after use, but I heard the company revisited that and now after the 4 min needed for the product to penetrate the hair, you can style and even apply mask or conditioner and therefore re-wet the hair. My hair needs these things, especially to detangle!

So now after I shampoo my hair, I apply the K18 for 4 min (3 pumps work for me) on damp hair and then get back in the shower to apply the Masquintense from Kerastase for dry hair or alternatively another deep conditioner, like the Cicaflash from the Kerastase Absolute Blonde line. After that I apply leave in conditioner (I love the OUAI one but want to try new ones eventually) and the Oribe curl cream. I was afraid my hair would be weighted down by all of the products but with the right amount of each, that didn’t happen!

The last product I apply is hair oil, after I dried my hair first with an hair towel so the hair is damp but not drenched (bought the Shu Uemura one to try).

Then I proceed to air dry my hair or use the diffuser! As I’m embracing my waves, I wonder if I should add mousse or gel. I just want to keep things easy and not overload hair with stuff, so for now I haven’t tried any.

So to sum up the new wash routine:

Wash hair 1-2 times a week

Shampoo (not having a preference right now, just a gentle one. I want to try the clarifying one from OUAI next)

K18 – NEW

Mask or deep conditioner

Leave in conditioner – NEW

Curl cream – NEW

Hair oil.

The reason why I’m stepping up my hair wash routine is that I did see growth and added volume and thickness to my hair since 2021 (last hair loss), but I noticed my hair length has not changed much in the past year or so, and I’m sure the main reason is because my hair has been very dry and I did little to nothing to fix that, causing breakage especially at the ends. I almost thought maybe the reason was that my hair just wouldn’t grow longer than that, but if it’s growing at the roots, it makes no sense to think so! I’m positive that with less heat, better products and overall better care when brushing and styling, I’ll be able to retain more length! (I’m still taking Viviscal once a day for hair health). I’m also starting to consider to look for more natural ways to lighten my hair in the future. If you have any ideas on that I’d like to hear!

In case I need a refresh and don’t want to do the whole wash, I’m wetting my hair with a water spray bottle and just do the last 3 products mentioned. I’ve done that once so far and it worked to add moisture to the hair. I also have a curl refresher spray from the Kerastase Manifesto line that I like to apply to dry hair or I just put hair oil, even easier! I’m going to attach some pictures below of my hair changes from 2021 to today.

Today in Italy, after a long flight! By the way all photos are unedited to keep it super real 😉

That’s all for now, just having fun documenting the journey to the best hair I ever had! I’m getting the itch to start writing about other topics again, so stick around 🙂

    • I did a lot of research on it, and many people said the product worked the same if not better after wetting the hair again and applying conditioner. Someone even reached out to the company which said after the 4 min, the K18 has penetrated the hair and you can style or wet the hair again, it won’t leave the hair. I just know my hair need conditioning… so I did use it the first time like this: after shampoo, I applied the k18 on damp hair for 4 min and then got back in the shower and wet the hair over and did mask and leave in conditioner. May hair were amazing and shiny! I’m very curious to see how it will be as I keep using it. This feels a lot better than Olaplex already.
